A bit about interesting and perspective items in modern aviation that I try to study
1. The huge and very interesting item "Predictive maintenance". It's really trending now.
Many companies all the world have so much data from airplanes and nobody doesn't know what we can do with data. But we can use it to check some stamps and analyze for predictive maintenance in the future. It's really difficult, we need to use artificial Intelligence and study work in this system. But it's maybe very useful.
Of course, I'm an engineer from airlines and I want to use special software-tool for my fleet. And now we can check many different offers. And I can provide some interesting offers from my colleagues for analyzing (this is not advertising, it is only for study):
Honeywell Forge for airlines: https://aerospace1.honeywell.com/godirect/ptmd/information
and for APU: https://aerospace.honeywell.com/en/learn/services/maintenance-and-service-plans/predictive-trend-monitoring-and-diagnostics
AVIATAR by Lufthansa: https://www.aviatar.com/
Skywise by Airbus: https://skywise.airbus.com/
It's not only about predictive, but it's also maybe a complex system for airlines. It all depends on your needs.
But of course, it's a really huge item about the airplane's system, about understanding special conditions for your fleet, data science, and algorithms of artificial intelligence.
2. Loadable Software.
It's my pain all the time. Because I'm a manager of software in my airlines and all the time I stay face to face with loadable software. What is the mean? It's mean that I use media sets with software from different companies: Boeing, Collins, Teledyne, Honeywell. And media sets (discettes, CDs, PCMCI cards) are one problem, the second problem is sent this soft to the airplane. And of course, in 21 century I don't want to use old fashion methods, I want to send my software from my office laptop and use cellular. Now we can use different technologies for it. I can provide some examples below. And now I study different retrofit for Boeing fleet.
For me very interesting case for a low-cost airline with two different fleets: Boeing 737NG and 737MAX. The lowcost company wants to use simple, fast and the same system for sending loadable software. However, NG and MAX can have different systems. And for the future, this system will be changed for unification. Maybe later I will right more information from my experience. Because this decision needs to be useful for everyday maintenance and not very expensive.
3. Cybersecurity for airlines.
Today many data can be sent with cellular and wifi, aircraft have more and more loadable software. And we need to think about security. Cybersecurity Policy for Aviation.
A very interesting map from Eurocontrol about cyber attacks (one case from Russia about Pobeda airline):

And interesting course by Coursera:

4. Technologies for future air traffic.
Every year we have more and more airplanes in the sky (I don't say about the situation with COVID19).
If we will understand what situation will be in the future, we will understand what modification we will have. And we will be ready for all. It's a Single European Sky. It's FANS, ADS-B, ATN, SESAR project and many interesting things.
If you know interesting ideas, articles or you have experience and you can share it please tell me about it.
